Our last few charter days off Cairns have seen excellent fishing with plenty of mackerel on all the spots. We’ve had some pretty windy weather though and I haven’t really done any looking for billfish at this stage. The water on the Northern grounds on the last few trips has looked better than East but this is subject to change and can do so overnight. The next couple of months should see the juvenile marlin and sailfish providing the cream on top for the light tackle anglers.
