The 2013 Heavy Tackle Season was a good one though some tough fishing at times. There were some really big fish around as always with highlights for the TOP SHOT – winning the Lizard Island Tournament 2nd year in a row, fighting an estimated 1100lb+ fish for 3 hours into the night only to break it off on the leader and my biggest blue marlin in Australian waters at 837lbs along with the great times we had with all our clients over the course of the season.
Looking forward to the year ahead …….. heading down to Port Stephens February/March/April, for anyone looking to fish the excellent striped, black and blue marlin on offer. Plenty of light tackle fishing from Cairns during May, June, July and August and the odd Indonesian surf trip, Japan blue marlin fishing and of course some barra fishing thrown in!!!
Our first charter of the year a couple of days ago was a good start to 2014. Fishing for pretty well everything – we managed a blue marlin, wahoo, mackerel and tunas for the day. The weather has been really hot and humid and the Southerly current is running hard at about 2 knots.
