The 2014 Cairns black marlin season was epic!!      There were fish around from late August with September producing some great fishing which carried on all the way through till the end of November.

Number 10 Ribbon Reef was certainly the Hot Spot this year with consistency and an incredible run of big fish.

We had a successful Lizard Island Tournament again fishing Omi Tomonori and Naoto Aoyagi winning Champion Angler / Chamption Boat, for our third consecutive year.

Our charters were  fantastic  with big fish and highlights in them all.

A unbelievable trip with Tim and Stephanie Choate, fishing for a women’s world record on 50lb.    On the last day of the trip, Steph caught an 1111lb potential new world record,  along with many other big fish including Tim’s 1200lber.

So far, we’ve caught 85 marlin for the season with 19 over 800lbs and with excellent conditions and some big fish still around the fishing should continue well into December.

To all my clients, thank you for the great season and the fun times we had and a big thank you to my 2 exceptional crew – Andy Dow and Jay “Junior” Househam….. as I’ve said before “the crew are the glue that keep it all together”.  Cheers boys!!

If you’re thinking about making a fishing trip to Cairns this season, there is still some great action to be had!!
